II Ukrainian-German Forum “Bioenergy, Energy Efficiency and Agribusiness” was held

7 November  2016 the Second Ukrainian-German Forum “BEA: Bioenergy, Energy Efficiency and Agribusiness” took place in Kharkiv at the creative space Fabrica with the information support of the Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving Association. The forum  gathered more than 350 people among which more than 100 participants are representatives of local self-government bodies.

During the event, Ukrainian and foreign experts, representatives of local authorities and public organizations discussed the main trends of energy efficient construction, introduction of alternative and renewable sources of energy in the housing and communal sector and agro-sector. Among the topics discussed during the panel discussions were: “EU and German support for enhancement and development of energy efficiency in Ukraine”, “Energy efficiency improvement models in the agro-industry”, “Energy efficiency in housing and communal services: new opportunities through decentralization”, “Higher education and business: European experience of training for energy efficiency “,” Energy efficiency as a trend of modern construction “,” Innovation in the agricultural sector. Alternative Energy Sources”.

The President of the Association, Ms.Oksana Reminska, acted as a moderator of the section “Energy Efficiency as a trend of contemporary construction,” in a summarizing noted: “Ukraine has an extremely high potential for energy conservation. Moreover, it has everything needed to start using this potential today: qualified professionals, legislation which, although imperfect, are allows work today; and with the full launch of the energy service mechanism will significantly increase the interest of investors and customers in implementing energy saving projects. It is a pity that today, because of high energy tariffs, the concept of energy efficiency is often replaced by the concept of gas substitution that is not identical. In addition, the procedure for introducing energy saving measures is, in most cases, incorrect: initially there is the replacement of gas boilers on boilers using RES, and only then there is a full set of measures aimed at reducing energy consumption. Thus, the power of the boiler house is significantly exceeded, and the investments invested are completely unjustified and superfluous. ” The speaker noted that it is necessary to take into account similar experience of European countries, in particular the example of Poland, given by the expert of the EC support group, Mr. Krzysztof Guerulski, and not repeat such mistakes.

As a result, it should be noted that the Forum was held at the highest organizational level, during which representatives of the public authorities and business got an opportunity to discuss joint implementation of certain projects.
