Abu Dhabi Development Fund has provided IRENA member countries with more than $ 200 million in preferential loans for “green” projects.<\/p>\n

On January 14, the discussion on the joint financial program of the Abu Dhabi Development Fund (Abu Dhabi Fund for Development took part https:\/\/www.adfd.ae) and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) (http:\/\/www.irena.org\/). ADFD), in which IRENA member countries are awarded concessional loans for the implementation of renewable energy projects based on the results of the competitive selection.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Funds are provided under 1-2% for a term of up to 20 years, including a 5-year grace period. The loan amount is from $ 5 to $ 15 million and covers 50% of the cost of the project.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The total program fund for 7 years is $ 350 million. ADFD has already provided $ 214 million in preferential loans for the implementation of “green” projects. This helped to attract as much as 420 million dollars in co-financing.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
As a result, IRENA and ADFD have mobilized more than $ 630 million to install 120 MW of new clean energy facilities around the world. This proves, first of all, the effectiveness of the chosen co-financing mechanism, which enables businesses and investors to intensify in this area. All this together contributes to solving the energy supply of cities where projects are implemented and strengthens their economies.<\/p>\n

Joining IRENA will open the door for Ukraine to apply for the Abu Dhabi Development Fund for cheap and long-term loans for green projects.<\/p>\n

In the framework of the 8th session of the IRENA Assembly, winners were selected to finance green projects in the framework of the IRENA-ADFD Project Facility in 2018.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Thus, $ 25 million of preferential loans from the ADFD is planned to be provided to co-finance two solar energy projects in countries such as East Africa, such as Mauritius and Rwanda.<\/p>\n
In particular, a $ 10 million loan will be provided to Mauritius for a project to install solar power stations with a total capacity of 10 MW on the roofs of 10 thousand homes.<\/p>\n
In Rwanda, $ 15 million will be used to co-finance the project to install 500 thousand autonomous solar installations with a total capacity of 7.5 MW.<\/p>\n
